State Track Meet

March 21 and 22 was spent in Boise at Bronco Stadium. Here is our team of 12 athletes from Kellogg who qualified for state,
marching in the parade of athletes.

Garret was up first on Saturday. It was a beautiful day for the most part.

He placed 8th at State.
Saturday morning at 8:30 ethan did his long jump.
When the day started it was about 50 degrees.

Ethan was aiming to jump 21'.
His final jump was 20' 11 & 3/4 ". Sooo close.

That was good enough for 3rd place.

By about noon, it was time for the finals in the 400.
It had been raining for a while and Ethan said it was cold even with your sweats on.

But the race must go on.

Ethan was excited to have lane three. He loves to chase down the competition.

As they came out of the final corner, Ethan shot into first.

Ethan never gave up his lead.

Being from North Idaho, and being used to crazy track weather, might have given him an edge.
Or it might have been, the shaving of the legs that gave him the edge.

Either way Ethan is a State Champion!

A few races later, it was time for the 200 finals.
Ethan was allready soaked and now you can see it has started to SNOW!
Even blowing into your hands won't warm you up now.

Ethan had a slow start which is unusual for him.

But he was still able to pull back up to get another third place medal.

( One guy has his coat on, one is wearing gloves and Ethan took off his wet shoes and socks)
When we got out to the car to leave it was 36 degrees!
Not your typical state track meet in Boise.
But definately a memorable one!

I am SOOOOOO jealous that your family is so athletic. I am so uncoordinated I seriously trip walking up the stairs. No Joke. Way to STATE CHAMPION. I bet he as thrilled. I also love the blessing pictures. I am glad that they live close so you can kiss your grandbaby often. There is nothing like their sweet heavenly smell.
